GHOSTWOMAN - New Album "Hindsight Is 50/50"

"Hindsight Is 50/50" marks GHOSTWOMAN's third album in just 18 months, yet songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Evan Uschenko sees it as the first one that truly captures the essence of the band. Uschenko reveals, "The first two albums were never intended as complete works; they were like pages torn from diaries long since discarded. However, with Ille van Dessel joining as co-writer and drummer, the project has found a clear direction."

The confidence and assurance found on this album seem to build upon their eponymous debut in 2022 and the subsequent release, "Anne, If," earlier this year. While there's a darker, denser atmosphere compared to previous works, the sound and vibe align more closely with the project's original vision dating back to its inception in 2016 – a realization of GHOSTWOMAN's creative vision. Sonically, the album resides in a warm, analog sonic realm, featuring sparse vocal melodies that leave room for interpretation. Uschenko acknowledges that their creative process lacks predefined concepts or intentions beyond creating noise and completing an album. The vocals are drenched in reverb, often hinting at meaning rather than explicitly stating it. The guitars carry a weightier presence, and the vocals blend into the sonic landscape.

The album was mostly recorded live within three days at the analog Kerwax studios in Brittany, France, by Christophe Chavanon (The Good Damn).
