The song by the Neue Deutsche Härte rockers is to be used at several competitions, including the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
July 26, 2021
Angelina Melnikova came to the Tokyo Olympics as the team leader, when women's gymnastics – one of the most popular Olympic sports for fans – kicked off. It has been official for a long time that Angelina Melnikova's floor music in 2021 included "Military Lapdance" by Stahlmann and was already used at other competitions in 2021. However, shortly before the start of the Tokyo Olympics, she had to change her floor music because the rights to use one of the songs had not been cleared completely. As a consequence, they had to replace a full 30 seconds of the floor music. However, the Stahlmann song "Military Lapdance" remained an important part of their floor music at the Tokyo Olympics and will hopefully lead to a successful result. Watch the full routine below:
Neue Deutsche Härte (New German Hardness) band Stahlmann employ a kinetic blend of new wave, alternative metal, groove metal, electro-industrial and techno music. Founded in 2008 in Göttingen, the band combines industrial metal in the vain of Rammstein with electronic beats and some gothic influences. Since then they have released several charting albums and have toured with some of the genre's biggest acts, like In Extremo, Saltatio Mortis, Doro or Eisbrecher.
21 year-old Angelina Melnikova has stepped up as the Russian team’s senior gymnast, anchoring her team alongside two young, talented gymnasts. Despite her young age, Melnikova was part of the Russian team that won the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Besides this, she also won gold and silver team medals at the European and World Championships. Melnikova has steadily improved with age, returning to her second Olympics with increased toughness.
