Following the announcement of her upcoming new album “Reasons To Stay”, set to drop next May 16, and the release of the first single “Don’t Like You Anymore” mixed by Kelly Finnigan of Monophonics, Canadian soul star Tanika Charles unleashes the official video of the new track. The video was directed by Taha Muharuma, who also worked as the director of Tanika’s “Soul Run” and “Endless Chain” videos. The new video also features vocal contributors of the new album, Claire Davis and Aphrose.
The new single “Don’t Like You Anymore” is a reflection on Tanika’s relationship with her mother. “It’s a song about confronting my painful past, discovering inner resilience, and ultimately embracing/prioritizing self-love. For this video I’ve enlisted the help of Taha Muharuma because he’s reliable, has excellent ideas and I can count on him to create a mood, and bring my story to light,” Tanika explains. “The initial visual idea was me reminiscing about my childhood, in my childhood home. Depicted by early 70’s interior decor, 90’s wardrobe, warm tones and nostalgic with a modern feel. When the chorus hits, we switch to vibrant colours, big accessories. Power poses exuding self-resilience and a sense of freedom. I’ve also invited my friends, Claire Davis and Aphrose to portray support and friendship within the video.”
We represent this song in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
