The origin story of “Silberfische” reads as unusual as it is charming. Tristan from RAUM27 met Levi Penell while climbing a wind turbine together. The chance meeting quickly developed into a close friendship. Between League of Legends sessions and a dinner together, the idea for “Silberfische” was finally born. “It was totally spontaneous,” Tristan remembers. “Levi told me that he was missing someone and I casually mentioned the silverfish in the hotel room. What started as a joking exchange quickly turned into a serious song idea: 'Wait a minute, that actually sounds really cool!” The song ‘Silberfische’ combines melancholic honesty with a pinch of humor - a trademark of RAUM27 and Levi Penell.
The lyrics tell of longing, loss and the hope of not being forgotten. With lyrics such as “I'm sitting in the bathroom, I'm counting silverfish because I miss you so much”, the everyday symbol of the silverfish becomes a symbol of clichéd indie sound with heart and soul. The humorous allusions, paired with emotional depth, make “Silberfische” a song “that you didn't know you needed”, says Tristan.
