FAT WHITE FAMILY
Fat White Family, wow! No other English band has caused as much of a commotion live as this crazy turmoil troop from London. Must! See! Them! The album “Champagne Holocaust” does really give a foretaste to that what happens around front man Lias Saudi on stage. The family makes up psychedelic, post punk and rock’n’roll sounds, which are sometimes hard to get like Velvet Underground, then again smeary like the Eagles of Death Metal, then bluesy like the early Stones or Mark Lanegan today. Live… there they remorselessly rock the stage like punk London in 1977, there every minute is one step closer into a vortex of chaos and hysteria. Against that, a meeting of Eisenbieger hooligans of Millwall and West Ham would be a piece of cake. With sprinkles and sweet liqueur. Well, not quite. But balls to the wall is the right catchword when describing Fat White Family.
BLOOD RED SHOES
There aren’t many duos that have as much energy as Laura-Mary Carter and Steve Ansell. In 2005 the guitarist and drummer founded the formation Blood Red Shoes. Ever since they have made four albums, the last one was simply called „Blood Red Shoes“ and was released in February 2014. Through their energetic live performances they have become a true brand so that their name on the record sleeve totally suffices. Any of their fans knows that behind this there are high-energy songs and punk attitude. To finally work in different surroundings than her hometown Brighton, their current album was recorded at a loft in Berlin-Kreuzberg. As regards to toughness the two even have put on weight, their performance at Reeperbahn Festival could – once again – become on of the festival’s highlights.
THE ACID
Three musicians, three continents. That is a short form to describe the setting of The Acid. Behind the band hide the two producers Adam Freeland from Great Britain and Steve Nalepa from Los Angeles, as well as the very talented singer songwriter Ry X (Howling). Their debut album “Liminal” presents their indie pop but also a smooth, groovy electro sound. Only nine days were needed by the three continent trio to record the debut album. “It is like painting, before you even know what you want to paint. The beauty lies within the complete freedom”, says Ry X about the emergence of “Liminal”.
