The Canadian composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and seven-time JUNO Award winner and nominee hails from Toronto but has carved out a massive following on the international stage. He is a recording machine, from his debut release Champion Sound Clash in 2004, the Toronto-born Dubmatix has gone on to produce and record over 500 releases (Albums, EPs, Dubs, Remixes).
His vast collection of recordings has garnered multiple music awards from all over the world including France, Portugal, Germany, and the U.K., along with critical praise from international music industry insiders and tastemakers such as BBC Radio's Don Letts, Rodigan, XM Radio USA, iTunes Canada & USA respectively who have recognized & celebrated Dubmatix' relentless inventiveness and creative style.
On "Basslines & Speakers" he teamed up with the legendary Ragga Twins, a duo that has been instrumental in shaping the UK dance music scene since the late '80s. Known for their groundbreaking blend of reggae, dancehall, hip-hop, and breakbeats, the Ragga Twins have left an indelible mark on the evolution of Jungle music. With their fierce energy and genre-defining tracks like "Ragga Trip" and "Spliffhead," they've collaborated with top producers across the bass music spectrum, continuing to influence and inspire new generations of artists.
Together, Dubmatix and the Ragga Twins are set to deliver a powerful fusion of dub, reggae, and bass on this new Record Kicks release that will undoubtedly captivate audiences worldwide.
Likewise, "Basslines & Speakers" will appear on this year’s Grammy ballot in the Best Dance/Electronic Recording category. The first voting round will be held from Friday, October 4th through Tuesday, October 15th.
