Amanda Murray was born in 1983 in West Berlin. As the daughter of an American father and a German singer, music was ingrained in her from an early age.
In 2001 she met DJ Versatile, who introduced her to the West Berlin hip-hop underground. She began writing her own rap lyrics. Although deeply integrated into the Berlin scene, she primarily writes her lyrics in English, leaving the German parts to her colleagues from the Maintheme roster (like Serk MC and Zwang) or friends (such as G.O.D.silla, Bass Sultan Hengzt or Reason).
In 2003, she adopted the stage name She-Raw, inspired by She-Ra, Princess of Power, from the "Masters of the Universe" comics. She views her pseudonym as an expression of the duality in her music: "She" for the soft, feminine side, reflected in soulful R&B singing, and "Raw" for the hard-hitting punchlines.
She-Raw's debut album Beauty And The Beats was released in 2005, the first solo album on Maintheme. It showcased the full range of a promising new female MC's talents and, like the collaboration project "41 Karat," received excellent reviews.
Later, Murray pursued a career in radio, hosting her own show and, currently, does not pursue rapping full-time anymore.
