Between vulnerability and defiance – Zelda Weber sharpens her voice on her second album.
With Rose Thorne, Zelda Weber returns not only with a bold sonic evolution but with a statement. Where her 2023 debut Crude revealed an artist full of promise, her second full-length effort solidifies her standing – both as a striking voice and as a self-possessed songwriter. Produced by Paul Gallister (Wanda), the album blends confessional songwriting with the polished edges of what Zelda calls Prog Soul Pop. It's a genre definition that fits: Rose Thorne is emotionally direct, musically layered, and unconcerned with trends.
There’s a quiet defiance running through these ten tracks – not in volume, but in clarity. Zelda writes and sings with a candidness that doesn’t ask for permission. "I write about things I'd actually rather hide – that's exactly why I write them," she says. The songs are about endings and agency, heartbreak and recovery, and the aftermath of toxic intimacy. From the haunting vulnerability of “Secrets” to the assertive pulse of lead track “Parade,” the album carries a consistent narrative spine: this is the sound of someone who has found – and refined – their voice.
Zelda is deeply involved in every aspect of her work. Beyond writing and performing, she plays piano and guitar, manages her band The Rosettes, and designs her own visuals. Since Crude, she has played nearly 80 shows across clubs and festivals, supporting names like Hubert von Goisern and Buntspecht. With Rose Thorne, she takes a step onto a wider stage – both in terms of production and international ambition.
