The Sound of Peter Thomas - Die Show zum 100.

The big show for legendary film composer Peter Thomas

November 21, 2025

He is an absolute legend of film music: Raumpatrouille ORION, Edgar Wallace, Derrick, Der Kommissar, Jerry Cotton, Der Alte – there was hardly anything that sounded on TV screens from the 1960s onwards that did not originate from the ingenious pen of Peter Thomas. He even composed the soundtracks for Bruce Lee films, as well as several Winnetou films and Francis Durbridge's Straßenfeger crime series.

Pulp sampled Peter Thomas' sound in ‘This is Hardcore’, Helge Schneider covered Raumpatrouille, and Questlove from The Roots paid tribute to him in his speech at the Oscars.

He was the Hans Zimmer of the 20th century, but with the exception of his loyal fan base, the general public probably knows his melodies more than his name. Peter Thomas would have turned 100 on 1 December. And that's why it's time to celebrate him in a way that befits his legendary work: with a big show in the rbb's Großer Sendesaal.
